A new Amputeddy book – FREE

Amputedd makes a choice ebook cover

This spring, I was honored to work with my son’s teacher, Ms. Jamie Davidson, and his 3rd Grade class. First, I read them the Amputeddy books, and later, thanks to their inspiration, I wrote a new book!

We were all so excited about the book that we decided the class should illustrate a special edition of the book. This is our work together. They chose the title and each child illustrated a page of the book.

This was a wonderful project and a beautiful experience for all of us and I hope you will download and read my book with their fantastic art! Don’t forget to read our special message to all amputees. We took special care to write it from the bottom of our hearts.

A new ebook by Kate Policani

Rites path

Rite’s Path

by Kate Policani

It’s been a while during my hard work on Wilding (which you won’t see right away because I am looking to publish it through traditional channels), but finally I have released a new book! This is a short story with a fun twist – it is a choose-your-own-adventure style book for adults! Yes, you can click through the ebook to reach the next part of the tale. It’s also a 99 cent title and a Kindle Select book, so you may get it for free!

Synopsis:

Mesha and her brothers attend the Grand Festival of Duman to see the greatest spectacle in the land of Sas against their Father’s wishes. Mesha’s people don’t worship Duman and consider his believers to be reprobates. Her sneaky brothers brought her along rather than give up their fun, and she didn’t object.

In the Queen’s Courtyard, everyone expected that the ceremonial dove the queen released would choose a sacrifice. But it should have landed on an object, not a person! The bird lands on Mesha, choosing her as a sacrifice to Duman.

What will Mesha do? Will she die for a god she doesn’t believe in? Can she cling to her beliefs in the face of death and all the decadence of the palace?

A new book!

This week I churned out a new 350000 word book! I can’t believe it, but here is my latest novel:

Talk and Cry

By Kate POlicani

Activia is a vibrant 42-year-old romance writer from upper Poop Creek Oregon. On her dream vacation to Bali she just wants to relax in the sun and write bestselling novels. Her peace is cruelly shattered when an archery club hijacks her exotic lunch cruise and invades her tranquility.

The darkly handsome captain of the team, Arto Jala, has Activia intrigued despite his moody cruelty and violent obsession with shellfish. His gritty sexuality is at odds with her pampered lifestyle, but he, too, finds her to be irresistible. Can she resist his smoldering advances?

In secluded Abalone cove by an artesian spring, as the coconuts sway in the breeze, he woos her. Drawn into his thrilling world, she soon is to discover his painful, haunting secret. Activia decides to use her vast knowledge of forensic psychology to uncover the mystery of his long, lost,  missing baby sister and punish those who kidnapped her from their beach side chalet. If Activia brings back Arum, will it calm Arto’s angry soul and allow him to abandon his barnacled past and grisly lifestyle of archery and truly love her forever? Can an Indonesian archer and an Oregonian novelist find true love together in a tropical paradise? Or can they only talk and cry?

Synopsis:

Her mother executed for witchcraft, her father dead at the hand of a noble, Victoire Charpentier vows to rise above her impoverished peasant roots.

Forced to leave her village of Lucie-sur-Vionne for domestic work in the capital, Victoire suffers gruesome abuse under the ancien régime of 18th century Paris.

Imprisoned in France’s most pitiless madhouse – La Salpêtrière asylum – Victoire becomes desperate and helpless, until she meets fellow prisoner Jeanne de Valois, infamous conwoman of the diamond necklace affair. With the help of the ruthless and charismatic countess who helped hasten Queen Marie Antoinette to the guillotine, Victoire carves out a new life for herself.

Enmeshed in the fever of pre-revolutionary Paris, Victoire must find the strength to join the revolutionary force storming the Bastille. Is she brave enough to help overthrow the diabolical aristocracy?

As Spirit of Lost Angels traces Victoire’s journey, it follows too, the journey of an angel talisman through generations of the Charpentier family. Victoire lives in the hope her angel pendant will one day renew the link with a special person in her life.

Amidst the tumult of the French revolution drama, the women of Spirit of Lost Angels face tragedy and betrayal in a world where their gift can be their curse.

Author Blog-in Day 3: The Presidents Club by FC Etier

How “The Presidents Club” happened

My first novel, The Tourist Killer, was nearing completion.
The characters had taken me to places not imagined in the beginning.
As the story lines for several of the characters were beginning to converge, one of them, Julian Thibaut, decided to visit a quiet little bar for a drink and some thought.

He met a man who knew of a great place that would fill the bill.
His new friend had on a name tag, but it wasn’t his. The tag read, “Ted.”
The wearer explained, “I borrowed this from another guy I work with. I forgot mine today. My name’s Abe, another President.”
When he said that, a light bulb went off for me.
When the two men arrived at the Louisville Tavern, they met a group of retirees that all had first names in common with previous U.S. Presidents.  In addition to the aforementioned Abraham/Abe, the other members of The Presidents Club: George, Thomas, Woodrow, Franklin, Ulysses, and Ronald. The group included a teacher, general surgeon, minister, retail manager, chiropractor, college professor, and a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force, all retired.
The Presidents Club debuted on Sunday, January 6, 2012 as a free weekly serial on the web site of my publisher, Venture Galleries. We were stunned to have received over one thousand readers for the first chapter.
Please accept this invitation to join us on Sunday, January 13, forChapter Two. Venture Galleries will archive every chapter, so if you miss one, it will be easy to catch up. Eventually, The Presidents Club will be available as both an e-book and a trade paperback.

Here’s the pitch:  A group of retirees and the ex-FBI agent hired to protect them face danger as they investigate a murder and uncover the source of ultimate government power.

Genre: a thinking readers’ thriller — enough action to keep the pages turning and enough information to get to know the characters not only by the information given about them, but how and with whom they interact.
