Review Submission Service – NEW

reading-1420126

I hope this will be a huge help to you! I realized how hard it is to find time to submit reviews, and thought maybe this would be a great Author Service. So many authors I know say “I never have time to submit my book for review!” What do you think?

New! – Review Submittal Service – $30

Book reviews are the key to success in self-publishing. I will research and submit your book review request to book review sites with your information. I do not guarantee you receive a review, but I will research reviewers appropriate to your genre, submit your book, and supply you with a record of each submission and the estimated time for reply if the site offers one.

The first three reviews for a book will cost extra due to setup time, but each additional 5 for the same book will cost the same, even long after the initial requests. (I won’t have to do as much research, so you get more review requests.) If you don’t have a review request letter written yet, I will write it for you (see price below).

In addition, at no cost, I will provide you with feedback on how easy it is to find you and your books online. Rather than have you provide me with links, I will go looking for you and see if I can find your books for sale.

Each book, First 3 review requests – $30

Same book, Additional 5 review requests – $30

Custom-written Review Request Letter – $10

New Cover for Ox Herding: A Secular Pilgrimage

I am currently working with Jackie on her book through my Author Services! Here is her fabulous, brand new cover:

eBook CYMK

Biography:

Jackie Griffiths has a BSc in Psychology and Computing and an MA in Psychoanalytic Studies, and has been writing fiction and non-fiction material for twenty years. She founded an online copywriting business providing content for websites, print and digital media, before selling up to concentrate on her novels and short stories. She now lives in abject poverty in the freezing ruins of an old sewage works somewhere in the UK, where she is currently working on her third novel.

Book Description:

Jae has many questions about the meaning of life and the purpose of her existence, but frustratingly, no answers. After the death of her agnostic grandmother, with whom she had her most fruitful philosophical discussions, she embarks on a personal journey to fulfil a mysterious note left to her in the will: ‘Seek and ye shall find.’

The plot follows Jae as one spring day she walks over a bridge into a strange world on the other side of the river. There she encounters challenging situations and unusual people offering tempting theories about the meaning of life. From then on she devotes all her energy to pursuing answers to the philosophical questions that drive her, experiencing a series of extraordinary adventures, until eventually she arrives at a completely unexpected conclusion.

‘Ox-herding’ is a term used to describe the search for meaning, purpose and spirituality that does not result in the finding of God, or of any other external authority. The ox represents the elemental beast within us all: ego. ‘Herding’ our ego is the struggle to recognise, battle with, control, subdue, and finally, transcend the ego. Based on the successive phases of understanding as presented in the Chinese philosophical classic, ‘The Ten Ox Herding Pictures,’ this story has ten chapters through which Jae journeys, discovering the meaning and secret to an enlightened yet thoroughly modern life; a place where all her doubts and questions are dissolved, a place without suffering or fear, yet firmly located in the midst of ordinary life. ‘Ox Herding: A Secular Pilgrimage’ describes how she gets there in a Carrollesque adventure involving remarkable people in extraordinary settings, and sees Jae wrestling a bull, performing in a concert, becoming a guru, engaging in dharma combat, and wandering through the Biblical garden of Eden.

New Review: Eternal Destiny

Eternal Destiny

by Tahlia Newland

Genre: Paranormal, Metaphysical, Fantasy

Read my review here: http://katepolicanisreviews.wordpress.com/2013/10/13/eternal-destiny-by-tahlia-newland/

Synopsis:

Intrepid traveller Ariel Malony and demon slayer Nick Walker face their deepest fears and their greatest challenge as they search for the Master Demon who holds the key to the future of mankind. Slay him and the world goes free; fail, and it falls irrevocably into violence and chaos.

Guided by a wisdom master of a mystical tradition that uses mind power as the basis of powerful magic, the assault party, including Kestril, the Magan Chiefs’ son, Layla, the flying Noble One, and Twitchet, the talking cat, must travel from the ancient granite walls of the Hermitage, up the kilometre high Steps of Death, and through a labyrinth of shifting gorges to the Palace of Skulls where flesh-eating demons demand to be fed. Even if Nick wins his struggle with the scars of his past and defeats the green-eyed head of the Cogin clan, they still must cross the scree slope, where the bones of Ariel’s father lie, and pass through the territory of vicious elementals to get to the ice caves beneath the summit where the Master Demon awaits.

The journey is extraordinary, the enemies are deadly and the ending is mind-blowing.

This is the final in the Diamond Peak Series: Lethal Inheritance, Stalking Shadows, Demon’s Grip and Eternal Destiny.

About the author:

I write heart warming and inspiring contemporary fantasy and magical realism .

I’ve been writing full time since 2008, and I’m also a well-respected reviewer with over 300 published reviews.  All my novels have been awarded a place on the Awesome Indies list of quality independent fiction, and several have received the AIA Seal of Excellence. My young adult magical realism novel ‘You Can’t Shatter Me’ also received a B.R.A.G Medallion for an outstanding independent novel.

My agent, before I went indie, was Debbie Golvan of Golvan Arts, Australia.  I studied writing  with, among others, Australian editor Selena Hanet Hutchins (BCA, Creative Writing), and was mentored by Catherine Hammond,  (BS in Education, MA in Literature/Creative Writing)

Before I began writing full time, I taught high school visual and performing arts and  wrote scripts for theatre in education as well as some unpublished  short stories for children. Full details can be seen on my Linked in profile.

I like and write stuff that’s out of the box.

I’ve studied philosophy & meditation for many years, (which informs the metaphysics in my stories),  and I’m an avid reader, prolific reviewer, extremely casual high school teacher and occasional mask-maker.

Though I trained as a teacher when I left high school, for most of my working life I was a performer . I started as a dancer, then moved into mask, mime and visual theatre. I spent five years doing a niteclub dance/mime act with my husband in Sydney and about 13 years performing in schools in Australia and New Zealand.  I’m a hopeless case of being slave to my creative impulses, but I’m never bored.

indiesbig

In March 2012 I set up the Awesome Indies site to  evaluate and list indie and self published books that meet the same standards as traditionally published books. Happily, all my books met the stringent requirements for addition to the list. Now I’m just part of a team that keeps it running.

I live on a beautiful property in rainforest about two and a half hours drive south of the city of Sydney in Australia. I have a teenage daughter and a husband, who is also a teacher.  We live only 6 km from the main highway but grid power doesn’t reach us, so our electricity is solar and  water generated.

Read an excerpt at the book page.

Synopsis:

I’m a normal girl. I am. I love shoes, fragranced body care, and hair products. I love all the chick flicks that have come out in the theaters in the last 2 years (and a lot of the old ones) and I obsess about my wardrobe.  I respond positively to most of the marketing directed at females in my age group.

My name is Colleen Underhill, and the only abnormal thing about me is that I just discovered I am, or I transformed into, a magician; not the disappearing bunny kind, but the power-shooting-out-of-your-hands kind of magician.

My problem now is that I do NOT believe in magic. Well, I believe in it. I have seen it shoot out of my own hands, but I oppose it in a moral sense; no hexes, no spells, no incantations, no potions, no amulets, no tomes, no casting circles, no eye of newt, none of that. I have to be very clear because people pressure me about it. Whatever they say about “how it’s done,” this is a morality issue for me and I will not cave in to their pressure.

But what do I do now?
