My New Favorite Earrings!

I had one of those ideas that hit you right while you are trying to go to sleep, only this time it wasn’t for writing. It was for promotion! What do you think? I hope they’ll be conversation-starters. I may try making them with some other media too because it was so much fun making them!

The Results of Following Advice!

Here is MY BOOK on the shelves at a BOOK STORE! I called my local Third Place Books and after some email juggling, found out how to consign my print books on their shelves. Now, if people will buy them, I have an additional outlet for my work. If you live in the Seattle area, check out Third Place Books on Lake City Way to buy The Disenchanted Pet in paperback from an actual shelf.

Pubit by Barnes and Noble

I’ve uploaded my book to Pubit, Barnes and Noble’s ebook site.  http://pubit.barnesandnoble.com/pubit_app/ It was quick and pretty much the same setup process as Smashwords and Kindle. It is only available to US residents because they require a US tax number. I’m not sure why so many sites can’t operate without that.

The site seems pretty bare-bones, with no obvious guides or community. After some poking around, I found reference to a formatting guide and a Pubit community, but no clear direction about where to go to find it.

Note: The Google link to Pubit doesn’t seem to take you to Pubit. All links seem to really really want to take you to the Nook store.

New Book! Plus, a major edit for TDP

I wrote a new book! I’m just full of ideas this weekend! I’ve compiled all of the information on my blog and organized it into a free ebook guide to self-publishing based on my experiences! This is free and now available on Smashwords. If you’ve been reading my blog, you’ve seen most of it, but if you haven’t this is a great way to catch up, or just make sense of it all. Here is the link:

Proper blog documentation coming!

Also! Kathryn, my editor for The Disenchanted Pet, has given me a wonderful follow-up edit of my book, which I’ve just uploaded to CreateSpace, Kindle, and Smashwords. I’m sorry, I can’t change your print books, but the ebooks are all updated for free. Most of the edit, though, is word order with some minor changes that don’t much affect the story. Also, I put a period at the end just for you, Donna!

Updating and Screwing Up

Oh the difference one dot can make. I left it out and now my update to The Disenchanted Pet on Kindle will list for $99 instead of $0.99. Where did that dot go? I have no idea. Now I am trolling the Kindle Direct website to catch it the moment I can change it.

If you were thinking of buying my book on Kindle, please don’t pay $99 for it (Haw Haw). I will fix it ASAP I promise!

If you bought my book for Kindle and couldn’t read the quote text from chapter 9, then I’ve fixed that. I hear there are some dropped words, and I’m not sure if they got deleted or if they were off the page or what. Frankly, I can’t force myself to sit down and read the whole book AGAIN to see.

Publishing on Kindle was amazingly easy and quick. I don’t feel like I can easily get answers to my specific questions, and the site does not make their help files obvious. I had better results “Googling” my question. Was it  better to create a “new” book labeled as a second edition or to upload a new file? I have no idea and Kindle Direct website did not have the answer in an obvious place. The forums are poorly labeled and not easy to analyze for the answer I want. But I’m a “wing-it” kind of gal anyway.
