This is a fantastic tool. I asked Writer’s Cafe at Kindle Boards if they had something like this, but they said they don’t. I just shared this post with them.
It would be awesome if you had a few links on the ones who pass/win 🙂
This blog is excellent and full of some great advise. Thank you
You are very welcome! Authors need this kind of help because folks will rob a writer blind!
Thanks for this. It was very informative and useful.

Looks like more and more of these fail, or require that you already have a pretty good following. I like your Discover Authors idea, but I want to see a lot more indie authors networking there. I think that could be a very effective tool once that blog gets 1000 – 2500 followers. You do good work, Kate!
Thanks! I think all it needs is some visibility. I’m working on that and encourage those participating to do so too.

Love this website. If you do a google search for promotion companies, the list is insane – then who do you trust. Anything you need to help this site grow, let me know! By the way, I’ll send you a link to an awesome book trailer company, it’s a little off topic, but they do indie style videos for about $800.00. About $300.00 cheaper than ‘still videos’. Also, I’m trying a paid service where someone links my site into their Facebook page. I’ll let you know how that goes.
Thanks again for the wonderful and informative site.

Glad to help! We succeed a lot better when we work together for great books.
Have you heard any feedback or comments at all about Hasmark Services, with Judy O’Beirn as president?
No, I haven’t. If you have, I would love to add it.
If you keep this post current, it will not only drive traffic to your blog, but help authors tremendously. I hope to see the links on winning marketing companies in answer to an earlier comment.
Thanks for the help.
Ooops. The links are there! Great.
It is not too easy to find opinions of customers, so any feedback would be appreciated.
I’ll keep that in mind. I know that iUniverse wants LOTS of money to help with marketing, but I don’t know if they deliver. Since I write in a narrow market “Pastoral issues and Spiritual formation” it’s hard to find the right marketing partner. I tried to talk a very capable Christian sister into taking on a couple of authors and working from home strictly on marketing and monetising our sites. She has other plans, but someone capable could make a good living AND put helpful resources into the right hands. Let me know if you hear of anything like that.
Very informative and helpful. I’ll share my experiences shortly since my book just came out and I am cautiously treading through the wonderland of book marketing/promotion. Thx Kate.
Hasmark Services Reviews Ripoff Scam please see ripoff report
Great stuff! As a fledgling author, I felt lost at sea when I looked at the list of book marketing companies. How to separate the legit from the rip-off, or even the competent from the incompetent? This is incredibly helpful. Thanks for posting. If I gather some information myself, I’ll be sure to contribute.
Thx!

Glad to help out! This is important and a big risk for authors.
